Volunteer
Communication Support Unit

We run a Communication Support Unit where both deaf, hard of hearing clients and service providers (i.e. Hospitals, solicitors, doctors, etc.) can book British Sign Language interpreters, Lipspeakers, notetakers and deafblind interpreters. The service is available via the telephone, minicom, fax, e-mail or even by calling in. There is also a 24 hour emergency service available, mobile no. 07977 552414. There is no charge to deaf people for this service, however, service providers are usually required to pay.

Volunteer Visting Service
Are you a new hearing aid wearer? Would you like a trained volunteer to visit you in the comfort of your own home, to advise and assist you with overcoming any possible difficulties that you may be experiencing. All our volunteers are themselves experienced hearing aid wearers and are willing to support and guide new users.

For more information, or to register as a volunteer, please contact Hazel Williams on 01782 219161.

Advocacy We can act on behalf of our clients. We can make appointments, refer to other services (with the client's permission) with the offer of on-going support and in all cases we can make sure that the correct communication support is available, subject to any appropriate communication funding being approved.
